Nephrostomy Set
The nephrostomy set enables safe urine drainage when kidney-to-bladder flow is blocked. It features a silicone or polyurethane pig-tail catheter with supporting tools (trocar, guidewire, dilator, fixation). Under local anesthesia and imaging, the catheter is placed in the kidney and connected to an external bag.
Purpose: The nephrostomy set is designed for cases where the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder is obstructed. It includes a flexible catheter that connects the kidney to an external drainage bag, allowing safe and efficient urine removal.
Key Features:
- Size Range: Available in sizes from 8 to 14 Fr, approximately 30 cm in length.
- Material: Crafted from high-quality silicone and polyurethane.
- Usage Duration: Suitable for use for up to 80 days.
- Innovative Design: Features a curved pig-tail tip, ensuring a single-channel drainage system for optimal efficiency.
Components: The set typically includes:
- A pig-tail catheter.
- Sheba needle and trocar for initial puncture.
- Stainless steel guidewire for precise catheter placement.
- Dilator for tissue expansion during insertion.
- Fixation adhesive, scalp, and connector.
Procedure: This minimally invasive procedure is performed under local anesthesia with imaging guidance such as ultrasound or CT scans:
- A rigid trocar needle creates the initial access to the kidney.
- A guidewire is inserted through the needle to prepare the pathway for the catheter.
- Based on the patient’s anatomy, the appropriate catheter size is selected and positioned.
- The catheter’s curved end is securely placed inside the kidney, while the external end connects to a urine collection bag.
